Skopje, 11 August 2026 (MIA) -- In June 2026, a total of 113,436 tourists visited the country. Domestic travelers made up 22.8% of that figure and foreign tourists accounted for 77.2%, according to figures released Tuesday by the State Statistical Office.

Compared to June 2025, there was a rise of 1.8% in domestic arrivals and a 13.3% drop in foreign arrivals.

Most foreign visitors in June 2026 came from Turkiye. There were 24,570 Turkish tourists, and 8,522 tourists arrived from Serbia, 4,396 from Germany and 3,207 from Bulgaria.

In June 2026, the visitors stayed a total of 221,608 nights, with 29,2% of that figure made up by domestic tourists and 70.8% by foreigners.

Compared to June 2025, the total number of overnight stays in June 2026 dropped by 1.5%. The decline was largely fueled by locals, whose overnight stays dropped by 3.3%. Foreigners' overnight stays dropped by 0.7%.

According to statistics for January through June, the country's tourism saw a 0.5% decline compared to the same months in 2025.

The decline was driven by a drop in domestic travel, as the number of local tourists declined by 3.1% and the number of foreign visitors rose by 0.3%. mr/
