Skopje, 24 July 2017 (MIA) - Start of negotiations to sign an agreement on economic cooperation, including tourism, and on introducing a direct flight Skopje-Sarajevo has been initiated by Macedonia's Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirko Sarovic.
At bilateral talks in Sarajevo, Bekteshi and Sarovic singled out the need to strengthen and enhance the economic cooperation of the two countries taking into consideration the fact that BiH in the past few years has been one of the top 20 countries with which Macedonia has recorded the highest volume of exchange of goods, regulated by the CEFTA agreement. Also, BiH is the only country in the region with which Macedonia has never signed such a document, the Ministry of Economy said Monday.
Minister Bekteshi expressed readiness to push for a draft-text to be sent to Bosnian authorities in due time.
Also, the issue of signing a tourism cooperation agreement has been raised by BiH in 2013. According to the two ministers, it has laid a foundation to strengthen tourism cooperation in the future.
Furthermore, it was jointly concluded that a Skopje-Sarajevo direct flight would facilitate the transport of tourists and would increase the number of business visits to the countries.
Minister Bekteshi was part of an official government delegation, which paid a visit to BiH over the weekend, state the press release. ba/13:43
