Skopje, 24 June 2020 (MIA) – Political parties and coalitions taking part in the July 15 parliamentary election are set to start presenting their election platforms on Wednesday.
Although they announced a campaign without rallies and other large gatherings, with increased use of social networks, traditional media, billboards and other online events, political parties are also launching on-the-ground activities.
On the first day of the 20-day election campaign, the SDSM-led “We Can” coalition will be campaigning in Strumica and Vinica. The VMRO-DPMNE “Renewal of Macedonia” coalition will launch their election activities in Ohrid, Skopje, Strumica and Tetoco, whereas the Democratic Union of Integration (DUI) will start campaigning in Prespa.
The Alliance for Albanians and Alternativa coalition will launch their campaign by presenting their platform at the main election headquarters in the Old Bazaar, whereas the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA) will be presenting its election platform in Tetovo.
Macedonian Concept will start the election campaign in front of the Skopje-based EU Info Center, while INTEGRA – Macedonian Conservative Party will be in Bitola on Wednesday.
According to the State Election Commission (SEC), 15 coalitions and parties with 1,598 candidates will take part in the election.
Heads of the MP candidates signed the Code for fair and democratic election and stressed their commitment to abide by COVID-19 protective measures to ensure public health safety.
In line with SEC revised timetable, election silence begins at midnight on July 12 and the election campaign ends.
According to the timetable, COVID-19 patients, people in isolation and self-isolation will vote on July 13, while the homebound, infirm and aged on July 14. July 15 is Election Day, starting at 7 am and ending at 9 pm.
