Skopje, 4 July 2020 (MIA) – The campaign for the July 15 early parliamentary election has reached its midpoint, as parties intensify debate on economy, rule of law and corruption.
Political parties resume election campaign on Saturday.
SDSM and the “We Can” coalition will visit Kriva Palanka and Debar, while VMRO-DPMNE and the “Renewal for Macedonia” coalition are set to campaign in Petrovec, Ilinden, Centar and Kisela Voda.
DUI and their MP candidate will present election program in Tetovo, the political platform Macedonian Concept is to stop in Makedonski Brod, Krushevo, Demir Hisar and Resen, while Levica will campaign in Gevgelija and the “Never North – Only Macedonia” coalition will visit Prilep.
SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said Friday in Gazi Baba municipality that the time of nationalism and false patriotism is over.
“Patriots are those who make bold decisions for the future. We fulfilled the strategic goal to join NATO and to open negotiations for membership with the EU,” Zaev said.
VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski told Friday a rally in Skopje’s Karposh municipality that what makes VMRO-DPMNE different from its political rivals is their love toward the country.
“I feel the energy of change, I feel the people want to get their country back,” Micloski said.
DUI leader Ali Ahmeti and the party’s candidate for first Albanian prime minister, Naser Ziberi, held Friday an election campaign event near Stone Bridge in downtown Skopje. Endorsing an Albanian candidate for prime minister, they stressed, will strengthen the country’s stability and security all the while also having positive effect on the economy.
Sending a message of unity, they called on the citizens to tear down the walls of ideology and nationalism dividing the people and to unite over the idea of an equal country for all.
The coalition “Never North, Only Macedonia” and the leader of Edinstvena Makedonija (United Macedonia), Janko Bachev, held a press conference in Kumanovo on Friday, during which Bachev said that they’ll annul the anti-Macedonian agreements, the forged census of 2002 and will organize a new census.
He accused the two largest parties of “destroying the Macedonian nation.”
Alliance for Albanians leader Zijadin Sela announced Friday in the Municipality of Tearce investments worth EUR 500 million for Albanian neighborhoods.
“Our policy is based on Albanians’ problems. EU 500 million have been allocated in our program for investments that aim to revitalize Albanian neighborhoods,” Sela said.
Petar Bogojeski from Macedonian Concept told residents of Aerodrom municipality on Friday that people want changes that will improve their lives.
“Let’s start making changes for the better and give control over the country back to the people,” Bogojeski said.
