Is the State Election Commission (SEC) fully prepared to administer the early parliamentary elections on July 15?
I can confirm that the SEC has fully completed all of its tasks and utmost efforts were made to organize safe and transparent elections.
Have you managed to conduct all planned activities considering the fact that, for example, the special electoral boards were not set up not on time as a result of the health workers submitting requests to be exempted?
There was no delay, but there were requests to have the health workers exempted and the Commission reacted in time. We will keep doing so until the conditions permit us, because we do understand the health workers.
What kind of election days do you expect to take place, having in mind that voters will cast their votes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and that polling stations will be open at 7 am and closed at 9 pm?
Despite the unprecedented conditions in which we organize elections, I hope that the election days will be peaceful and our citizens will demonstrate high level of political awareness and culture.
When the public could find out the preliminary results from the July 15 elections and the voters’ turnout?
This year, the heads and the deputies of the electoral boards will use a new app to send turnout data every two hours during the day. After polls close and after verifying the results with the help of the same app, the results can be transferred rather quickly, allowing the SEC to announce preliminary unofficial results quite soon.
What’s your message to the citizens, the electoral administration and to all stakeholders involved in the elections?
I call on the citizens to vote and to rest assured that the polls are safe in line with the health safety protocols, because we’ve disinfected all polling stations, we’ve provided enough protective equipment for all members of the electoral administration as well as for the citizens if they do not have masks, hand sanitizers and gloves.
