Beijing, 28 March 2020 (dpa/MIA) – China reported 54 new coronavirus cases and three new deaths over the past day, as it suspended the entry of most foreigners in a move to curb the spread of the disease.
All of the newly added infections were found among travellers returning from abroad, the National Health Commission said on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, China enacted a ban on the entry of foreign nationals holding valid visas and resident permits in order to curb the spread of such cases.
Starting on Sunday, Beijing will also severely limit the number of both outbound and inbound international flights.
So far, China has reported a total of 81,394 coronavirus infections including 3,295 deaths and 74,971 recovered patients.
