Skopje, 14 July 2020 (MIA) – A donation of medical supplies from China was handed over Tuesday to the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The donation worth EUR 250,000 consists of 62,000 protective masks, 4,200 goggles, 3,000 visors, 6,000 protective suits and kits, gloves, infusion pumps, digital infrared thermometers and two sets of thermal imaging thermometer helmets, has arrived by express train from China to Europe.
The handover ceremony held at the Gjorce Petrov barracks in Skopje was attended by Defence Ministry’s state secretary Dragan Nikolikj and Chinese Ambassador to North Macedonia Zhang Zhuo, who stressed that the donation is a symbol of cooperation between the two armies and that the Chinese people sincerely supported the Macedonian people in the fight against the virus.
“The donation is from our People’s Army and is a good symbol to prove that misfortune revels the true friends. China sincerely wants to cooperate with North Macedonia and to work together to defeat the virus faster,” Ambassador Zhuo said, adding that the donation arrives following several donations from Chinese sister cities, humanitarian organizations and companies.
Nikolikj thanking the People’s Republic of China for the assistance, said that donation is intended to front line army members and the healthcare workers fighting against COVID-19 in the country.
“Only through acts of solidarity, shared experiences, lessons learned we can all together both in the region and globally defeat this pandemic,” Nikolikj said.
