Skopje, 10 June 2020 (MIA) – The government’s salary support scheme, valid for April and May, could be applied in June as well under the same criteria, said Finance Minister Nina Angelovska.
The draft-decree will be discussed by ministers at a government session later in the day, according to her.
“The government’s objective is to help the economy. According to developments, analyzes, and expectations, we have the right to believe that there is a chance to resume implementing the measure throughout June,” Angelovska said answering a journalist question at Wednesday’s news conference.
The government has subsidised salaries for April and May up to a maximum of 14,500 denars (EUR 235) per month and per employee.
The Minister said nearly EUR 30 million was singled out for the measure the first month after it was launched. Less than EUR 30 million will be needed for the second month.
“It is estimated that less than EUR 30 million will be secured for the third month since many companies have reopened in the mean time,” Angelovska said.
According to Public Revenues Office data, 21,215 companies applied for the salary support scheme in April and 20,507 companies in May.
