Air, rail and road traffic between Greece and North Macedonia suspended until July 31

Greece has extended the temporary suspension of all transport services – air, rail and road - to North Macedonia and the ban on entry by Macedonian nationals to Greece until July 31, MIA’s Athens correspondent reported Thursday.

Athens, 16 July 2020 (MIA) – Greece has extended the temporary suspension of all transport services – air, rail and road – to North Macedonia and the ban on entry by Macedonian nationals to Greece until July 31, MIA’s Athens correspondent reported Thursday.

The restrictions are introduced as preventive measures for protection of public health from further spread of the Covid-19 on Greek territory for the period from July 16, 2020 to July 31, 2020.

The decision, signed by the Ministers of Health, Transport and Infrastructure and Maritime Affairs, refers to North Macedonia, Albania and Turkey, was published on Wednesday (July 15) in the Official Gazette of Greece, and enters into force on Thursday (July 16).

The ban does not apply to: Greek citizens, persons holding a residence permit and persons living in Greece, transport of goods, entry of persons for absolutely necessary professional reasons, but also for transit of ambulances that enter Greece from Kosovo via North Macedonia to hospitalize patients, members of the diplomatic, military or administrative staff of EU and EULEX member states in Kosovo.
