Bitola, 14 September 2019 (MIA) – The 40th Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers Film Festival will begin with a Srgjan Janakjievikj-directed performance, followed by Golden Camera 300 laureate Edward Lachman receiving his lifetime achievement award, MIA’s correspondent reports.
Bitola has started welcoming its guests from the international film industry, including director of photography José Luis Alcaine, who worked on Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory, the first film to be screened at the 2019 Manaki Brothers festival.
Also attending the screening will be Irish playwright and film director Jim Sheridan, German filmmaker Fatih Akin, and numerous foreign and local cinephiles and film students.
This year’s lifetime achievement award laureate Lachman will chair the official competition jury. The other judges on the panel are Nenad Dukic from Serbia, Dominic Velinski from France, Kaloyan Bozhilov from Bulgaria, and Fejmi Daut from North Macedonia.
Founded in 1979 by the Macedonian Film Professionals’ Association, the Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers’ Film Festival is the first and oldest film festival dedicated to the creativity of cinematographers worldwide. mr/
