Skopje, 12 May 2020 (MIA) — ‘Flowers to Nurses for their Humanity,’ a 101-meter long painting of flowers by Macedonian painter Zhivko Popovski-Cvetin was shown at an event honoring the work of nurses on 2020 International Nurses Day.
Attending the unconventional event were members of the ZA NAS [FOR US] Association of Nurses, Medical Technicians, Midwives, and Dental Nurses, the Red Cross of Skopje, and the non-political service organization Lions Club’s District 132, all of whom observing health protection regulations.
Cvetin also gifted 200 roses to the nurses in honor of Florence Nightingale, the British social reformer who founded modern nursing and was born 200 years ago – on May 12, 1820.
The WHO designated the year 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife in recognition of the contributions they make to society. mr/
