Skopje, 13 September 2019 (MIA) – By the end of the day, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is expected to take over all Special Prosecutor’s Office cases, according to public prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski.
“We’ll forward the cases to their relevant prosecutor’s offices and will nominate a prosecutor for each specific case,” Joveski said.
Asked about the future of the SPO staff, he said he expected the Council of Public Prosecutors to decide if the special prosecutors should return to their previous posts.
Commenting on the letters special prosecutor Katica Janeva has been sending from jail, Joveski said he had no doubts about their authenticity.
“I’d like to confirm there were three letters: one to the SPO prosecutors and two to the PPO. We don’t doubt their veracity, because the correspondence has been handled by the correctional facility and a judge from the Criminal Court.”
Joveski also said that it was up to prosecutor Vilma Ruskoska to decide if Janeva’s detention should continue. /mr
