Skopje, 12 September 2019 (MIA) – Macedonian neuroscientist Nikola Stikov, together with his colleagues Bogdan Draganski, Jadranka Stojanovska, and Tommy Boshkovski, has organized the fifth regional MRBalkan.org conference, which this year is taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, Sept. 12-14.
Following the success of the first four MRBalkan conferences—the first two held in this country (2008 and 2011), the third in Turkey (2014), and the fourth in Slovenia (2017)—this year’s panel of scientists will again look at various aspects of magnetic resonance imaging, from the fundamentals to cutting-edge research developments in the field.
Around twenty world-renowned scientists will deliver presentations to an audience of radiologists, neurologists, surgeons, biomedical engineers and physicists from Bulgaria and North Macedonia. Speakers include David Van Essen from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA, and Steve Smith and Karla Miller from Oxford University in Oxford, UK.
Stikov is co-director of NeuroPoly, the Neuroimaging Research Laboratory at École Polytechnique, University of Montreal. As the founder of MRBalkan.org, he’s been developing a regional MR network across the Balkans over the last ten years. /mr
