Skopje, 18 September 2019 (MIA) – The fight for justice continues, said prosecutor Fatime Fetai arriving at the Criminal Court, where a new hearing in the Monster trial is taking place Wednesday.
Fetai, together with her fellow prosecutor from the former SPO Gavril Bubevski, was authorized by the state public prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski to continue pursuing the Monster case.
Around 3,900 taped conversations are to be presented as evidence during the trial.
The case involves the murders of four teenagers (Kire Trichkovski, Filip Slavkovski, Cvetancho Ackovski, and Aleksandar Nakjevski) and a fisherman (Borche Stefanovski) at Lake Smilkovci near Skopje on Apr. 12, 2012.
Six men (Alil Demiri, Afrim Ismailovikj, Agim Ismailovikj, Ezim Aziri, Haki Aziri, and Sami Ljuta) were tried on terrorism charges and sentenced to life in prison.
In Dec. 2017, the Supreme Court revoked the verdicts and released four of them from detention.
The case was then taken over by the SPO for a retrial.
After the Council of Public Prosecutors on Monday transferred the SPO staff back to their original posts, Fetai and Bubevski will be prosecuting Monster from the Primary Prosecutor’s Office. ik/mr/
