SEC releases preliminary results of presidential elections

The State Election Commission (SEC) released Monday the preliminary results from the second round of the presidential elections, which have confirmed Stevo Pendarovski's election as President of North Macedonia.

Skopje, 6 May 2019 (MIA) – The State Election Commission (SEC) released Monday the preliminary results from the second round of the presidential elections, which have confirmed Stevo Pendarovski’s election as President of North Macedonia.

According to SEC data from 100 percent of processed votes, 844,360 voters, i.e. 46.7 percent cast their ballots. Stevo Pendarovski received 436,212 votes, while Gordana Siljanovska Davkova garnered 377,713 votes.

“In accordance with Article 121 of the Electoral Code, Stevo Pendarovski has been elected President after receiving the majority of votes from the citizens who voted,” said SEC president Oliver Derkovski.

The 48-hours period for complaints is ongoing.

SEC member Janakje Vitanovski reiterated the Commission’s position that the elections were clean, fair and democratic.
