Skopje, 21 March 2019 (MIA) – Romanian poet Ana Blandiana is the laureate of this year’s Struga Poetry Evenings.
Blandiana (b. 1942, Timisoara) is one of Romania’s leading writers.
The poet, essayist, translator, and prominent opponent of the Ceausescu regime is known for her daring poems and outspoken political and social criticism.
Blandiana will receive the Struga Poetry Evenings’ highest award at the festival’s closing ceremony in late August.
The organizers named Blandiana the 58th SPE laureate on World Poetry Day, March 21. mr/12:25
