Tetovo, 7 February 2019 (MIA) – SDSM will decide who to endorse for President during the party’s congress on March 3; until then we’re focusing on key issues of national importance, Vice Premier and Minister of Defense Radmila Shekerinska said Tuesday in response to a reporter’s question about the Social Democrat candidate to run in the presidential race.
Minister Shekerinska, visiting the army barracks in Tetovo on Tuesday, said she did not want to mix party politics with national matters.
“We’ve succeeded in signing an Accession Protocol with NATO,” Shekerinska said. “Next week, I’ll be the first Macedonian minister to have participated in a NATO ministerial meeting at the highest level, so this is where our energies are focused right now.”
Asked to comment on DUI president Ali Ahmeti’s statement that his party will not support the SDSM candidate, Minister Shekerinska said that coalitions are partnerships, above all else.
“We will hold open discussions not only with our government coalition partner,” Shekerinska said, “but also with the other parties in our coalition.
“We believe coalitions and partnerships are formed to hear each other out, to talk things over, and find the best solution not for the Government but for Macedonia.” mr/15:05
