Moscow, 21 January 2020 (dpa/MIA) – Eleven people were killed in a house fire at a logging site in a village in the Siberian region of Tomsk, Russian authorities said on Tuesday.
Ten of the victims were identified as migrants from the Central Asian republic of Uzbekistan. Only two people managed to survive the blaze, which erupted in the early morning hours, state media reported.
An electrical malfunction was the suspected cause, possibly due to the use of additional electric heaters in the single-storey wooden home, the Russian news agency Interfax reported.
Federal investigators have opened a criminal case on a charge of negligence.
